This year the MCC’s annual walk is on Sunday 26th June

The start and registration point is the Butter Cross in Chippenham as usual, but this year the Walk will take you along the old Chippenham Arm. Your guide will point out to you the site of the coal wharf, the brick works and tunnel on your way to Pewsham Locks. Registration is at 10am with the walk starting at 10.30. The registration fee is £5 per adult and children under 16 are free.

The walk to Pewsham Top Lock is just 2 miles,  and mostly on  the flat,  where in addition to our display stand serving teas, coffee & light snacks we will have created a family fun day event. Activities include log sawing with a double ended saw, make you own commemorative brick, meet Frankie the canal horse and much more.
The emphasis is on a family day so if you and your family do not wish to do the walk, just come and join us for the day. All we ask is that you give a donation the will go towards our restoration work.

Planning permission has now been granted for the top lock restoration so you will be able to see our work party in action restoring the lock.

The walk to the Bell is about 5 miles where after a refreshing drink you can either walk back or grab a lift on the mini bus that will provide (a small donation would be appreciated) a shuttle service back to Chippenham.

365 days a year walkers, runners and cyclist use the tow path for free. On the 26th June we are asking everyone who uses the tow path on that day to make a donation towards the sites upkeep, which last year cost £1,400.
We look forward to welcoming you all.
